A Joyful London Wedding: Claire & Reuben in Islington
I first met Claire and Reuben four years ago at a Ceilidh, where they danced the night away, laughing together with the biggest smiles you don’t forget. Fast forward to Reuben’s brother’s wedding at Pengenna Manor in Cornwall—Claire was a bridesmaid, and I was lucky enough to photograph the day. I still remember Claire telling me, “If I ever get married, I want you to be our photographer.” What an incredible compliment—and one I’ll always treasure.
And then, just a few months ago, I had the honour of capturing their gorgeous, stylish, joy-filled wedding in Islington, London.
Morning Calm & Colour
Claire got ready with her mum, dad, brother, and bridesmaids in a beautifully relaxed atmosphere. The talented Laura Ann and her makeup and hair team worked their magic, while Claire’s brother served up homemade sourdough with avocado (and a little Bucks Fizz to toast the morning, of course!).
Claire wore a stunning Justin Alexander gown—elegant, timeless, and completely her. Her bridesmaids were a glorious burst of colour, each in their favourite dress, creating a joyful rainbow that lit up every photo.
A Personal Ceremony at King’s Cross House
The ceremony was held at the stylish and intimate King’s Cross House. It was filled with love, laughter, and a few tears, led by Reuben’s fabulous aunt Hazel, who officiated the ceremony with the perfect mix of humour and heart.
Claire and Reuben walked out to a storm of cheers and a cloud of confetti, beaming with happiness. Guests enjoyed fizz and the now-famous Guinness cake made by Reuben’s mum (yes, it lived up to its reputation!).
Cruising Through London & Feasting in Islington
From there, the newlyweds hopped into an epic Cadillac, driven by the ever-cool Adam from Hire a Classic, and cruised through the streets of London to their reception venue: the effortlessly charming Depot pub in Islington.
Under twinkling fairy lights, guests feasted, laughed, and celebrated. We took some time to capture relaxed portraits of Claire and Reuben with their families and wedding party in the soft golden hour light.
Personal Touches & Surprise Moments
The evening was packed with thoughtful, fun details: cocktail hour included drinks adorned with both sets of parents’ wedding photos, a retro phone invited guests to leave voicemail messages for the couple, and the photo booth brought out everyone’s silliest sides.
One of the biggest surprises? Both mums dressed up as ABBA and gave a performance that had everyone on their feet—Claire and Reuben were stunned and delighted. Later, the dance floor came alive with a silent disco, everyone grooving with headphones on, singing out loud with full hearts.
A Midnight Send-Off
As the night drew to a close, Claire and Reuben walked out under a tunnel of love formed by their guests, all linking arms and cheering them on. They climbed into their Cadillac getaway car and rode off into the night, still surrounded by love, joy, and the echoes of laughter.
This wedding reminded me why I do what I do—not just to capture beautiful images, but to tell love stories full of laughter, family, colour, and connection. Claire and Reuben, thank you for letting me be part of your day. I’ll never forget it.
